Pretty Muddy & and a Health Fair

Last Saturday I had the opportunity to hang out at the Mahaffey Theater in beautiful downtown St. Petersburg. I was there representing Pretty Muddy. Q105 and CBS Radio was sponsoring a health fair. Pretty Muddy was one of the vendors exhibiting their race at the health fair.

For those who are reading this for the first and might have not have heard of Pretty Muddy, let me explain. Pretty Muddy is a women’s only 5k (3 miles) obstacle course run. You don’t have to be an athlete or a runner. Pretty Muddy is designed for women of all shapes, sizes and ages. You can walk the course and skip any obstacles you may feel uncomfortable doing.  The purpose of Pretty Muddy is gather your gang of girlfriends, maybe even  dress up in costumes or similar outfits, have fun and get pretty muddy. To sign up, get more info or find the course near you visit the Pretty Muddy website. I ran their inaugural race last year. I wrote a blog post with lots of great pictures.

On a side note, if you ever have the time you should come down and explore downtown St. Pete. It sits right along the bay and I bet you could take some great pictures with the water in the background.  Besides the Mahaffey Theater there are endless blocks of shopping and dining, not to mention the Dali Museum and St. Pete Pier.

The day of the health fair the weather was dreary, cold and raining. The original plan called for it be outside on the green but it was moved inside because of the crappy weather.  During the fair, there was a special event going. It was the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition.  Resurrected from the dead was Captain Smith. He let me pose and take a picture with him. You know, I could be wrong, but out the corner of my eye I think I spotted a 3rd class passenger swooning some pretty red-head. Rose maybe?

Ok moving on. I took a quick tour of the heath fair.  The first booth I checked out was FitLife Foods.

There are two locations: St. Pete and Tampa.  I’ve always wanted to stop in for lunch and try them out.  They have healthy, pre-made meals and snacks. According to their website their mission is:

“Our mission at Fitlife Foods is to make the most delicious food that’s as good to you, as it is for you. That’s why you’ll never find anything artificial like hormones, additives or preservatives in any of our dishes or snacks. We believe that the fresh, all-natural ingredients that go into all our meals will help power you through the day, and the variety of delicious flavors will cut the routine out of your daily routine.
Greatness in = greatness out – we think it’s just that simple.”

Onward March. I spoke to some great people who worked at Medi Weight loss Clinic. I was curious if this was a gimmick weight-loss center, or values true healthy weight loss changes. The latter won. The manager said they urge their clients to lose weight through healthy dietary changes and incorporating physical fitness. I liked that. It was nice to see a company that places value on the true way to lose weight.

The Health Fair had many other vendors These are the ones I saw:

Now, time to talk Pretty Muddy. I met lots of women eager to sign up for the race. They even took posters to hang up in their office. I loved that. It’s a great way to encourage your fellow office workers that fitness is fun. Not only that but it’s something different – a one of kind experience.  After all when else would you find yourself playing the mud? Some eager Pretty Muddy gals allowed me to snap their photo:

The best part of the fair was running into a woman named Donya. She does marketing and advertising for CBS Radio. This woman rocks! She works for CBS radio, takes care of her kids and husband and finds time to run during her free time. She was on the money and had some fantastic ideas to promote Pretty Muddy. Shhh…I can’t tell you those now because the details are still under wraps. Donya is also part of a great group of local mommies.

Soon I’ll have details on a giveaway for one free entry to Pretty Muddy. In the meantime for those who couldn’t make it to the fair because of the weather you can use code Q105 for $10 OFF.  Hurry up because the code expires  3-15-13! Go to Pretty Muddy to sign up and use the code.
